What we are about

This site is dedicated to saving the beloved MyTunes and OurTunes software. For the uninitiated OurTunes is a piece of software that connected to any iTunes version previous to 7.0 and allowed you to move music. I used it to manage my library of music between my 4 computers (hey, I am a student with a part time job in IT). Sadly, I am not a programmer capable of taking this fantastic, if buggy, piece of software and upgrading it. That is where this website comes into play. I am trying to raise the money to *pay* a developer to upgrade the software. If you are a developer then contact me through this site. I will then host the software here on this site!

- I only endorse the use of OurTunes and derivative and similar software to manage your music collections between computers. The new version will *not* be able to remove the copy protection that Apple puts in, if it is your music it shouldn’t matter!

How you choose to use the software is out of my hands however!

I will match every donation dollar for dollar up to $200. Like I said I am a student and that is me *not* buying a Wii in favor of this project.

Why this is important to me
and hopefully why it is important to you too. Apple is doing the best job in the industry right now in resisting the omnipresent RIAA. Yes, they have made concessions but holding the market share has given Apple its own share of power in the music biz. Apple still restricts the music that you buy. It is fairly easy to get around, JHymn works beautifully. Even so, I firmly believe that once you *buy* the music, be it in CD, MP3, or AAC it is yours to listen to however and whenever you choose to do so. Having more than one music library is one way that I choose to listen to my music. Not being able to use the multi-platform OurTunes anymore limits my ability to enjoy my own music. Yes, it is possible to create a network share and move songs over one by one or folder by folder but when we are talking about hundreds of albums on different computers that takes hours and hours. Checking to see what I have versus what I need to move is time consuming and overall very tedious. Most importantly it is a limitation that I will not stand for.

Hopefully you will not stand for it either.
